Support FAQ

Here is a FAQ for the most common questions that are asked.

I updated to 2.0.5 and now the fish won't bite!

THIS IS NOT A BUG. You need to select the proper hook size for the size of fish you are targeting. If you use a big hook in a place where there aren't any big fish, you won't get any bites. It's as simple as that. Likewise, you should use a smaller hook to attract smaller fish. I just played the game myself to see if there were any issues, and I was able to get a bite right away using the right bait and hook size for where I was fishing.

What hook size should you use? Here's a general guide:

  • For fish under 15 lbs, use XS hook size
  • For fish between 15 - 30 lbs, use S hook
  • For fish between 30 - 120 lbs, use M hook size
  • For fish between 80 - 500 lbs., use L hook
  • For fish between 300 - 1300 lbs, use XL hook
  • For fish over 1200, use XXL Hook

With these general guidelines, you should be successful. Just like selecting baits, you can change the hook size around and see what works. If you see a big fish on the radar, change to a larger hook for success, etc.

Happy Fishing!

Where Can I Buy the Full Version?

Do a search for CYXB, and you should see it. You can also scan the QR code to the right of this page using the Google Goggles app to be taken directly to the Market page.

The full version is currently only available for purchase in the Android Market for countries that have paid apps. If you don't see it, you may not be able to purchase any apps at all. A full list of those countries can be found on the Market support page here: Paid App Availability

I purchased Fishin' 2 Go, but am having trouble downloading it.

The app purchase/download process in entirely controlled by Google's Android Marketplace. Even if the Market is telling you the game is purchased, this is NOT always true. accurate. "Purchased" means that you submitted an order, but not necessarily been successfully charged. Orders are not charged by Google until AFTER the 24 hour trial period is over.

Please visit the Android Market Support Forum for possible solutions. Another suggestion is to uninstall the LITE version first. Some users said that this helped. Typically, this problems will fix themselves given some time.

If you are still having difficulty downloading the game, please send and email to cyxb.android@gmail.com with your Google Checkout order number. We can look up the status and possibly cancel the order for, which will allow you to re-purchase again. This usually always works.

I am having trouble reeling the line in.

Some things to try:

1) Make sure you aren't laying down while playing. Orientation of the phone is a factor in the reeling speed.
2) Try powering your phone off/on again.
3) Turn off the constrain frame rate option. This is desired for newer phones, but if you have an older phone it may slow the game down and make it feel like the reel isn't working

The line keeps breaking, even if I use heavyweight gear

You have to treat your phone like a fishing rod. To reduce tension and keep the line from breaking, tip the top of your phone down. This should reduce tension a bit, so that you can quickly reel in for a short time. Repeat with patience.

Try jerking the rod back quickly, and then lowering to reel immediately to try and "turn" the fish. This may sometimes make the fish pause enough to reel it in a little bit when it is running out fast. Note that this may not work for all species.

I have a new phone, how do I get Fishin' 2 Go back?

Your application purchases are tied to the PRIMARY account on your phone, and can be installed an unlimited amount of times on any device assuming you are using the same primary account. If you change devices, you can install previous purchases by making sure you sign into your device with the same Google Account you used on your previous phone.

If Android Market is attempting to charge you for an application you have already purchased on an existing phone, your device may have been reset and a new username and password created OR a different account has been set as the primary. Because the application is associated with a different primary account, you are being charged to purchase it again. If you find yourself in this unfortunate situation, you will need to re-purchase Fishin' 2 Go. However, if you send an email with your old order number (important!), your old order can be refunded so that you don't have to pay twice. This is the only way to get the app on your new phone w/ your new account, as Fishin' 2 Go is only distributed through the Android Market.

I need to re-install the game. How do I backup & restore my saved catches/game data?

You are in luck! BEFORE uninstalling the game, you should backup the entire game dataset (all profiles, challenge progress, and saved catches) by navigating to the Profile Selector screen and pressing the MENU button on your phone. You will see the menu item to Backup Data. The data backup file will be written to your SD Card in the fishin2go folder. It is important that you do NOT move this file, as the restore process will be looking for it.

AFTER re-installing the game, you can select the Restore Data menu item to restore your game dataset from the backup file.
